Seaside Getaway
I’ve been up since three
I am looking forward to this
To our getaway by dawn
Through the sandy path by the water
Our seaside haven
Play a game with me
I’d give you my love
Try not to run it through the gutter
In my sinking sand
I’d watch you holding me up
And we could walk on the water
And we could stand with ease
In the seaside breeze
Tainted with broken-up with grains
Through elements of a weathered clutter
We would feel the wind
I’d race after you
In the autumn’s grace
Is a lover’s chase
A race to catch my breath
The words you said made me lose it
The love we made stilled my girth
I love the way you stroke my hair
Just like the wind running through the earth
I’m alone and free
And I’m one with this matter
I’ve been alone since three
With my singular fruit platter
At the place of our getaway
I can see that you run away
It should make me feel that way
And I sit alone with plans to stay
I reside with my monologue
At our seaside getaway
I dedicate my soliloquy
To the sand at True Love’s Mortuary
I danced with the gulls
With drops of sorrow, my vision dulls
I heard daylight’s herald morning calls
I take a step, and I fall
I am an inch shy of the ground
An arm by my waist tied around
And there’s a face when I turned around
A smile too refined to grace the land
The face turns into a hand
It wipes dusk and dew and dirt
It entwined fingers, where I find sand
And a new longing for my heart
